毕达哥拉斯学派有言:“万物皆数”。计数和运算即是将万物关联起来。无数的 计算器具，见证了人类编织世界数学之网的历程，从古代简单的手动计算工具，到近代复杂的机械计算装置，再到现代高级的电子计算设备，器物史既呈现了人类 计算观念的演进，又折射了人类生活模式和世界图景的变迁。清华大学科学博物 馆携手合肥子木园博物馆，开启这段历史，望数字时代的人们共缅共思。
“All is number，”thus declares Pythagoreanism. To number and to calculate is to link all together. Devices for calculation have been coming along humans' journey of building a web of mathematics for the world. These devices-ancient simple manual calculating tools, modern sophisticated mechanical calculators, and electronic computers in our times-lined up to tell a history of instruments and things attest to the evolution of human understanding of calculation, as well as to the transformations of human life and the world picture. Joining hands with Hefei Zimuyuan Museum, Tsinghua University Science Museum organizes this exhibition to unveil this history, in the hope that it will invoke contemplations among us in the digital times.
